Good Samaritan Fund

We are finding an increasing number of families within the church who are facing financial hardship due to unexpected medical problems or employment problems over which they have little or no control.

As a congregation, we can offer some assistance.  Weekly donations will be used to either pay a utility bill and/or purchase food certificates from Shop-Rite.  Checks drawn from the donations will be made out directly to the utility company or Shop-Rite - money in this fund will not sit in the bank.

Envelopes are provided in weekly bulletins.  As you come forward to commune, simply place in the basket any offering you desire.  You may also make your check out to St. Johns, but designate the gift for GOOD SAMARITAN FUND, and mail it in.

One of the good things about this fund is that those receiving help know they will be able to contribute back into the fund as they are able in the future.

Right now, neighbor can help neighbor in a significant and caring way.  While the money is a welcome relief from some of the financial pressure, knowing that the people of God care enough to help may be the greater boost for those experiencing hard times.
