Pastor's Welcome
We are
described historically as a small,
enterprising congregation and this has been an accurate description of
St. John's since our inception in 1926. I am the fourth pastor to
serve St. John's and I have been here since 1985. I have been an
ordained pastor for twenty years. This is a wonderful
congregation. I love them and am honored to serve as their
pastor. What we can offer to you is a healthy,
vibrant, loving church family seeking to live by the power of the Holy
Spirit whose activity Luther describes as "calling, gathering,
enlightening and sanctifying the whole Christian church on earth." Worship at St. John's is a delight, a healing experience and a means to encounter the awesome presence of God. We are a singing congregation and are blessed with a new pipe organ and a beautiful, classic church building with warm woodwork, gorgeous stained glass windows and as of this year, AIR CONDITIONING!! The Psalmist has said that a word fitly spoken is like an apple of gold and I try to remember this when preparing and preaching sermons. If you are looking for a traditional worship experience that speaks directly to your heart today, this is the place for you. IF you are looking for a community of faith where you can roll up your sleeves and get involved in a ministry of compassion and outreach, this is the place for you. If you are in need of healing, prayer and especially if you want to return to God after a long absence, this is the place where you will find the kind of love and grace that can welcome you and change your life forever. At St. John's, you will be challenged by the claims the Gospel makes upon your life and we will do our best to help you endure the temptation to find a faith that demands less of you and offers less in return. St. John's is well-known for ministry to adults of all ages. We are now also experiencing a renewal in children's ministry that is very exciting to see. The children's choir has been revived to the point where children are eager to get to church for practice. Our church school is following a "total family model" that reinforces the role of parents and other adults as the primary models and teachers of faith. We enjoy being an intergenerational church and are eager to be a more international church. Thank-you for visiting our website. May God bless you and if possible, please visit us soon! |
