Music Ministry
Notes from Teresa Walters ("Dr. T.")

Our church family was extremely blessed these past summer months by the volunteer music ministry undertaken by our Chancel Choir members.  Each week brought something new and wonderful as soloists, duets, quartets, instrumental and vocal ensembles worked together to share their talents for the glory of God.  This proved to be such a blessing that next summer we hope to invite the participation of members from our Children's Choir.  Our congregational singing of the hymnody and liturgy throughout the summer continued at such an energetic level that we sounded like a congregation of 500.  Week by week we "raised the roof" in praise.  Perhaps the new air-conditioning helped!

Now that the fall season has begun, our choir rehearsals are again underway.  Chancel Choir rehearsals resumed with a "Preview PREHEARSAL" on the last Sunday of August.  Choir members met for a time of fellowship and introductory singing of the anthems we'll be sharing during worship this fall.

We invite anyone who desires to join us.  Come out and participate in the blessing!

The Chancel Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings before worship from 9:15 - 10:00 a.m.  The Children's Choir rehearses as part of Total Family Sunday School, singing from 9:00 - 9:15 a.m.  Our choirs will be singing some truly great and inspirational music this season.

If you are not yet a choir member, tune in to that "still, small voice" that may be God calling you to participate this year.  Music Ministry is one of those miraculous investments of time and energy that rewards us by giving back to us more than we give away.  A book I am now reading puts it in paraphrase:

"Cast your bread upon the waters,
and sometimes it comes back buttered toast!"
